I got this to stabilize an L-shaped brick patio beside a fish pond. One side has shifted for years (sandy soil and some other factors) so it's actually a small scale retaining wall. It wouldn't work for a significant incline, but was perfect for my situation. Next year I may replace some of the older landscape edging with this, but I would probably choose 4", possibly 6".The jagged edge on bottom is key to ease of installation, I think, and since I wanted it sunk pretty deep for stability, I used the 8" for this project.Plan ahead. I don't recommend having pieces begin/end on corners if you can avoid it. This means that you'll have to bend 90° corners. I took mine to a local welding/machine shop, AFTER MEASURING CAREFULLY TWICE and clearly marking a STRAIGHT line on the inside of the bend I wanted. If you have the right tools, skills and confidence, this part could also be a DIY. I understand that you can do curves easily with it.When installing, get a piece of scrap 2x4 (mine was about 2' long) to hold on the top edge of the panels as you hammer them into the ground. This is to protect the metal panels.I used a 2 lb sledgehammer and slid the board back and forth along the panel. Don't get in a hurry and hit too hard--you'll just knock the other end out of the ground again.With some forethought and patience, you'll be pleased with this light duty retaining wall that costs a fraction of a masonry wall. And you can do it yourself, I certainly wouldn't have attempted to do a stone or brick one myself and would have had to pay someone to do it, plus wait on the contractor to be available.I highly recommend this for edging or retaining small amounts of soil.I thought the strips were a little flexible. They are not- without using professional tools.We purchased this edging for around our flower beds and they look great. Though a little difficult to pound into the ground, it’s been worth it to contain mulch and have a nice clean edge. My husband was able to heat a few pieces up with a torch to make bends for corners. We are really happy with this product.Very sturdy edging!Easy to install, looks great. I am delightfully surprised at the quality and ease of installation. Product was exactly as described.I bought two sets of these to go around pollinators garden with bird bath. It took me about an hour to install. Shaping to fit curves and corners took the most time. Looks really nice, gives the area a nice manicured look.This product needs to be sold with one additional connector clip or allow extra clips to purchased separately. This is very frustrating because I cannot finish my project without one additional clip. I can only find clips from other brand names to buy, but none are the same color.Great height to divert water drainage.
